Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-Supported Denture Options

For some people missing most or all of their teeth, traditional dentures may sometimes feel less stable or comfortable. At Perio Implant Harmony, we offer implant‑supported dentures — a treatment option that combines the full‑arch coverage of dentures with implant support to create a fixed alternative to removable appliances.

This approach is planned and tailored individually, with the aim of supporting oral function and appearance over the long term. Outcomes vary between individuals, and your suitability and expected results are assessed as part of a personalised treatment plan.

What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Implant-supported dentures are custom prosthetic appliances designed to attach to dental implants that are surgically placed in the jawbone. Unlike removable dentures, which rely on suction or adhesive, implant-supported options are fixed in place using implant attachments. This design aims to support greater stability and retention when clinically appropriate.

Depending on your case, implant-supported dentures can be :

Removable

(snap-in, taken out for cleaning)

Fixed

(permanently secured in place by your dentist)

Who Are They For?

Implant-supported dentures may be ideal for patients who :

  • Are missing most or all of their upper or lower teeth
  • Struggle with loose or ill-fitting traditional dentures
  • Want greater stability when eating or speaking
  • Prefer a longer-term solution to removable prosthetics
  • Have sufficient bone (or are suitable for bone grafting if needed)

Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures

1. Improved stability with no shifting or movement

2. Increased comfort and fewer pressure points

3. Enhanced chewing function and diet variety

4. Preservation of jawbone and facial structure

5. More secure and confident speech

6. A natural-looking, well-fitting result

How the Treatment Works

At Perio Implant Harmony, your treatment is designed around your individual goals, anatomy, and clinical needs. The process includes :

1. Comprehensive Assessment

We conduct a full clinical evaluation, including scans, bone assessment, and medical history review. We’ll determine the best implant placement plan and coordinate with your general dentist or prosthetic provider.

2. Implant Placement

Typically, 2 to 6 implants are placed into the jawbone, depending on the case and whether the denture will be fixed or removable. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia with a focus on patient comfort.

3. Healing & Osseointegration

Over the next 3–6 months, the implants integrate with the jawbone, creating a solid foundation for your denture. Temporary solutions may be provided during this healing phase.

4. Final Prosthesis

Your custom denture is fitted and attached. Fixed solutions are screwed into the implants and remain in place, while removable versions are designed to clip on and off as needed.

Fixed vs. Removable Dentures: What’s the Difference?

Fixed dentures

are permanently secured to implants by your dentist and cleaned like natural teeth. They provide the highest level of stability and feel most similar to your original teeth.

Removable dentures

on the other hand, are designed to snap in and out for easy cleaning at home. They still offer far greater security than traditional dentures, while allowing greater flexibility for some patients.

We will discuss the pros and cons of each option during your consultation, helping you choose the best solution based on your needs, lifestyle, and anatomy.

They can be either fixed (permanent) or removable (snap-in). Both provide significantly more security than traditional dentures.

Implants themselves can last decades with good care. The denture portion may require replacement or adjustment over time, but is designed for durability.

The implant procedure is typically done under local anaesthesia, and most patients report only mild discomfort afterwards. We’ll guide you through post-op care to ensure a smooth recovery.

You may still be eligible. We can discuss bone grafting or modified implant strategies depending on your anatomy.
